Sierra Club Inc. and other environmental groups lost their bid Wednesday to block the construction of part of TransCanada Corp.'s contested Keystone XL pipeline while they appeal an Oklahoma federal judge's recent ruling against them in a challenge to the project's permit.

An Oklahoma federal judge on Sunday denied a motion by Sierra Club Inc. and other groups for a preliminary injunction halting construction of part of TransCanada Corp.'s contested Keystone XL pipeline, saying an environmental review of the project was properly conducted.
