A California federal judge on Monday approved Best Buy Stores LP's deal to end a long-contested class action alleging that the retailer didn't pay its technicians for time spent driving company-issued vans home, okaying a $674,500 settlement reached after the company's decertification bid fell flat.

Inc. on Monday urged a California federal judge to decertify and pare claims in a wage-and-hour suit claiming the company forced its repair technicians to take their work vans home without compensating their driving time, saying the policy was implemented to provide free transportation and that some employees instead opted to receive pay for commuting expenses.
