A Florida federal judge on Wednesday gave the final nod to a $281 million settlement reached by Wells Fargo Bank NA and Assurant Inc. in a suit over their force-placed insurance practices, despite objections last week from homeowners worried about how much of the money would reach class members.

Assurant Inc. sought Friday to dismantle four putative class actions in Florida claiming it conspired to overcharge homeowners for force-placed insurance, arguing that it had no involvement, while Citibank NA told a judge that one of those suits should be tossed because no contracts were breached.
