Carnival Corp. and a BAE Systems unit have agreed to settle a suit in Alabama federal court that accused the shipyard owner of negligence after a cruise ship broke away from the BAE dock in 2013, killing one worker and injuring another.

Shipyard owner BAE Systems urged an Alabama federal judge on Friday to cut it loose from a liability suit brought by the Carnival Corp. after one of its ships broke away from BAE's dock in 2013, killing one worker and injuring another, arguing that it was Carnival that was negligent.
