The Washington Nationals said Monday its lawsuit in a D.C. federal court accusing Westchester Fire Insurance Co. of failing to compensate it for $1 million lost on a minor league player who lied to the team about his age should be kept alive, arguing the claims are timely and well founded.

The insurer contracted to protect the Washington Nationals baseball club from fraud failed to compensate the team for $1 million lost on a minor league player who lied to the team about his age, according to a lawsuit removed to D.C. federal court Tuesday.
