The Eleventh Circuit said Monday that a district court erred in ruling that James River Insurance Co. has no duty to indemnify a mechanical engineering firm against claims that its negligence contributed to a cruise ship passenger contracting Legionnaires' disease.

A mechanical engineering firm, sued when a defective water system it designed for a downtown Miami hotel resulted in its temporary closure, told the Eleventh Circuit on Tuesday that a district court erred in ruling the firm's insurer had no obligation to defend it.
