Novartis Fights Zometa Jaw Injury Verdict In 11th Circ.
Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corp. on Tuesday fought a $250,000 verdict in multidistrict litigation over injuries allegedly caused by the bone drug Zometa, arguing to the Eleventh Circuit that it should not be held liable when the prescribing doctor failed to read the medication's warning.

Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corp. on Monday fought a cross appeal by plaintiffs who had won a $250,000 jury verdict in March over a bone disease allegedly caused by the Swiss drug giant's cancer-related bone damage drug Zometa but are seeking punitive damages that the jury declined to award them.
