CFTC Asks 2nd Circ. To Uphold Subpoenas In Oil Futures Suit
The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission asked the Second Circuit on Wednesday to uphold a lower court's decision allowing for the disclosure of sensitive documents related to crude oil futures trading by Shell Oil Co. and other companies in a proposed class action alleging market manipulation, saying increased restrictions on its subpoena power would be dangerous and unwarranted.

2nd Circ. Asked To Nix Doc Disclosure In Oil Futures Suit
Shell Oil Co., Morgan Stanley Capital Group Inc. and Plains All American Pipeline LP told the Second Circuit on Thursday that a lower court exceeded its authority in allowing the disclosure of sensitive documents provided to federal investigators in a proposed class action alleging certain oil traders manipulated the crude futures market.
