The lead plaintiff in a proposed class action against Michaels Stores Inc. has dropped her individual claims accusing the retailer of failing to properly inform job applicants about background checks it conducts, according a document filed in Missouri federal court on Thursday.

Michaels Stores Inc. was hit Friday with a proposed class action that alleges the craft supply chain's system for notifying prospective employees that the company conducts background checks is inadequate and violates federal law, becoming the latest major retail chain to come under fire for how it screens potential hires.
