FTC, States Settle Sham Cancer Charities Suit For $75M
Two nationwide cancer charities accused by the U.S. Federal Trade Commission and all 50 states of swindling donors out of $75 million will be dissolved and their president banned from profiting off future fundraising, the agency said Wednesday, concluding one of the largest multistate charity fraud actions in history.

Judge Denies Deal In $187M Cancer Charity Scam Suit
An Arizona federal judge on Tuesday shot down a proposed settlement between the U.S. Federal Trade Commission and nonparty fundraisers that raised money for cancer charities accused of duping donors as part of a $187 million scam, finding that the deal was too vague to be approved.
