A D.C. federal judge refused to award attorneys' fees to an environmental group that sued the federal government over petitions to get marine species listed as threatened or endangered, ruling Thursday that the group cannot get reimbursement after voluntarily dismissing the case.

An environmental group slapped several U.S. Department of Commerce agencies with a lawsuit Wednesday in D.C. federal court, claiming the agencies failed to act on the group's petitions to get five marine species listed as threatened or endangered under the Endangered Species Act.
