Deal OK'd In FLSA Action Over Sprint Commissions

Law360, New York (July 06, 2009, 12:00 AM ET) -- With earlier concerns having been addressed, a federal judge has signed off on a settlement in a putative collective action accusing Sprint Nextel Corp. of underpaying sales commissions following Sprint's merger with Nextel in 2005.

Judge Kathryn H. Vratil of the U.S. District Court for the District of Kansas on Thursday approved a deal between plaintiff Brian Gardner and Sprint, with worries over the reasonableness of the distribution of settlement proceeds and whether putative class members must receive notice of the settlement having been satisfied....
