Toyota Says Acceleration Class Action Lacks Facts

Law360, New York (February 17, 2011, 2:09 PM ET) -- Noting a recent government report that found no evidence of electronic flaws behind sudden acceleration problems, Toyota Motor Corp. again wants claims dismissed in a putative class action accusing it of concealing acceleration-causing defects that slashed the value of vehicles.

In documents filed Monday in multidistrict litigation in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, Toyota said the plaintiffs' theory of an electronic throttle control system defect in the company's vehicles has become increasingly “elusive."
