Hillandale, Others Scramble Out Of Egg Antitrust Suit

Law360, New York (September 26, 2011, 8:48 PM ET) -- A Pennsylvania federal judge on Monday tossed a putative direct purchaser class' antitrust claims against Hillandale Farms Inc. and the United Egg Association, but left intact claims against other companies accused of conspiring to limit egg production and drive up prices.

Ruling on six motions to dismiss the direct purchasers' complaint, U.S. District Judge Gene E.K. Pratter nixed claims against Hillandael, its affiliates and the trade association, but found that the plaintiffs had sufficiently claimed that Michael Foods Inc., Daybreak Foods Inc., Rose Acre Farms Inc....
