Law360, New York (May 16, 2012, 2:37 PM ET) -- A preneed funeral contract provider caught up in an insurance fraud scandal took aim at Missouri on Tuesday, claiming that the state should be the one held legally responsible for an alleged scheme that cost consumers and funeral homes $600 million.
National Heritage Enterprises maintains that Missouri didn't properly monitor NHE-owned National Prearranged Services Inc. preneed trusts after a 1994 settlement, and should be forced to take the blame, according to the complaint.
