BP Pays $5.4M To Settle EEOC Sex Bias Probe Into Cleanup

Law360, New York (June 28, 2012, 10:02 PM ET) -- A BP PLC unit on Thursday said it would pay $5.4 million to settle a U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission investigation into alleged gender discrimination by BP contractors participating in the response and cleanup of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.

BP Exploration and Production Inc. will set up a settlement fund of up to $5.4 million for a class of women in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida who claim the company's contractors discriminated against them because of their gender when they applied for temporary jobs...
