Law360, New York (July 03, 2012, 10:29 PM ET) -- A California judiciary committee on Tuesday struck down a bill that would have countered the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision in AT&T Mobility v. Concepcion by ensuring workers could bring class action claims against their employers.
The nine-member Assembly Judiciary Committee voted in favor of killing the legislation by one vote. The bill, S.B. 491, had received the support of labor groups but irked business organizations, which argued that it would overburden the courts and undermine arbitration agreements.
