Hulu Users Denied Class Cert. In Video Privacy Suit

Law360, New York (June 17, 2014, 7:16 PM ET) -- A California federal judge on Tuesday refused to certify a class action accusing Hulu LLC of violating the Video Privacy Protection Act by sharing viewers’ information with third parties, concluding that there was no clearly objective way to determine which users’ data could have been obtained by Facebook Inc. 

In denying without prejudice the plaintiffs’ motion for class certification, U.S Magistrate Judge Laurel Beeler agreed with Hulu’s contention that the proposed class of individuals who used both Hulu and Facebook between April 2010 and June 2012...
