Travelers' Burden To Show Katrina Damages: Court

Law360, New York (July 17, 2009, 6:02 PM ET) -- A federal judge has found that Travelers Property Casualty Co. of America bears the burden of segregating covered from noncovered losses in a New Orleans entertainment supply company's claim for over $8 million in losses stemming from property damage wreaked by Hurricane Katrina.

The ruling, handed down Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana, is the latest in Imperial Trading Co. Inc.'s lawsuit, which accused the insurer of acting in bad faith in handling millions of dollars in Katrina-related claims....
