Power Co-Op Seeks To Shut Off Antitrust Price Suit

Law360, New York (December 04, 2009, 2:08 PM ET) -- The Western Farmers Electric Cooperative on Friday asked a court to toss a member rural power co-op's allegations that it tried to charge different electricity prices to different members and monopolize the state's electricity market, in violation of the supply contract between the two co-ops.

WFEC acted in accordance with language in its wholesale power agreement with Oklahoma co-op People's Electric Cooperative that is required by the federal government's Rural Utilities Service, and adopted the RUS' suggested rate, the co-op said in the U.S. District Court...
