BET, MTV Sued Over Essence Concert Broadcast

Law360, New York (November 01, 2011, 5:41 PM ET) -- Viacom Inc. units BET Networks and MTV Networks were hit with a copyright and trademark infringement suit in California on Friday by rival TV One LLC, which claims they acquired and BET broadcast exclusive coverage of the Essence Music Festival without permission.

Comcast subsidiary TV One also named music distribution company Northstar Media, Northstar President Pat McDonald, and Music World Music and its CEO Mathew Knowles as defendants.
