Rock Band Toto Sues Sony Over Royalties For Digital Sales

Law360, New York (February 29, 2012, 12:52 PM ET) -- The band Toto, creator of 1980s hits “Rosanna” and “Africa,” slammed Sony Music Entertainment with a breach of contract suit Monday alleging the label failed to pay it proper royalties on sales of digital recordings.

In a complaint filed in New York federal court, Toto Inc. claims an audit revealed Sony had shortchanged the band on royalties for domestic and foreign sales, as well as for digital downloads of their music, in violation of recording contracts in place.
