Law360, New York (June 12, 2012, 1:18 PM ET) -- A New York federal judge ruled on Thursday that Chase Bank USA NA cannot use Facebook to inform an inaccessible alleged credit card scammer of the fraud allegations against her.
U.S. District Judge John F. Keenan denied Chase's bid to serve process on Nicole Fortunato through her Facebook account, saying that the unconventional means of presenting her with legal notice is not justified given the lack of evidence showing that the account the bank has identified even belongs to her.
