Law360, New York (June 07, 2005, 12:00 AM ET) -- A federal jury in California has cleared communications gear maker Cisco Systems Inc. of infringing a patent by Storage Technology Corp. for speeding up the processing of data entering firewalls.
In a double whammy for StorageTek, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California also agreed with Cisco’s claim that the patent was invalid.
The jury took less than three hours to deliberate, according to Edward Reines of Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP, which represented Cisco.
