NYU Can't Limit Damages In Fight With Dorm Landlord

Law360, New York (July 19, 2012, 5:36 PM ET) -- A New York state court on Tuesday kept New York University on the hook for as much as $600,000 in a dorm damage dispute with a landlord, denying the university's motion to limit the damages to $138,000.

In granting building owner Cliff Tower LLC’s cross-motion for summary judgment, New York State Supreme Court Justice Melvin L. Schweitzer blocked the school’s request to limit its payment, which he said was based solely on a “self-serving chart.”
