Law360, New York (August 20, 2012, 7:21 PM ET) -- Film company Merchant Ivory Productions Ltd. sued Janus Films LLC in New York federal court Monday, accusing the company of continuing to distribute its catalog of classic movies well after a licensing deal had expired.
Merchant Ivory, an independent production house behind movies such as “Howard's End” and “The Bostonians,” says it had licensed 26 of its movies to Janus for distribution but that the contract was terminated in December 2010 when Merchant Ivory declined to renew it.
