Law360, Houston (October 11, 2012, 8:50 PM ET) -- A unit of EP Energy on Thursday urged a Texas federal judge to toss Fairfield Industries Inc.'s $16.1 million suit over unpaid licensing fees, arguing the seismic data company was making a bogus federal claim to keep the case out of state court.
EP Energy E&P Co. LP claims that its dispute with Fairfield is a simple breach of contract suit that does not invoke federal jurisdiction under the Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act, as has been alleged by the data company.
