Law360, New York (May 16, 2008, 12:00 AM ET) -- A federal jury on Wednesday ordered defense contractor DynCorp International LLC to fork over $15 million to subcontractor Worldwide Network Services LLC for damages related to racial discrimination and breach of contract allegations.
The jury in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia unanimously awarded telecommunications company WWNS more than $5 million in compensatory damages and $10 million in punitive damages, finding that DynCorp discriminated against the minority-owned subcontractor, impeding its work in Iraq and Afghanistan before using a different company.
