Monsanto Accuses DuPont Of Smear Campaign

Law360, New York (August 19, 2009, 3:22 PM ET) -- The head of Monsanto Co. has fired off a scathing letter to the chairman of rival DuPont Co., accusing the company of launching a coordinated, covert attack over the past few years that seeks to paint the agricultural giant as an unlawful monopolist.

Monsanto CEO Hugh Grant on Aug. 17 sent a missive to DuPont's board chairman, Charles O. Holliday, demanding an investigation into the company's alleged engagement of a third party whose mission is to attack and portray Monsanto in a negative light.
