Hartford To Pay $1.3M Over Insurance Antitrust Claims

Law360, New York (October 22, 2009, 4:57 PM ET) -- Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal has reached a landmark $1.3 million settlement with Hartford Financial Services Group Inc. to resolve allegations that the company schemed to fix the prices of insurance and reinsurance costs across the U.S.

Stemming from an ongoing investigation against the biggest reinsurance players in the world, Blumenthal said Thursday the agreement with Hartford was the first antitrust settlement of its kind in the multibillion-dollar industry.
