Ranbaxy Admits To Infringing Purdue OxyContin Patent

Law360, New York (December 07, 2009, 8:21 PM ET) -- Ranbaxy Pharmaceuticals Inc. has admitted to infringing a Purdue Pharma LP patent for the painkiller OxyContin in a consent order resolving Purdue's suit, which had been tied to antitrust multidistrict litigation accusing Purdue of excluding generic competition for the drug through sham litigation.

Judge Sidney H. Stein of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York on Friday approved a consent judgment between Purdue and Ranbaxy in which the companies agreed to settlement, patent license, and distribution and supply agreements.
