Law360, New York (December 18, 2009, 1:44 PM ET) -- The European Commission has sent preliminary objections to a number of banana importers and sellers accused of participating in a cartel in southern Europe, including Chiquita Brands International Inc.
The regulator said Thursday it had issued statements of objections to "a number" of companies involved in importing and selling bananas in southern Europe, citing concerns that they had violated the European Union's rules on restrictive business practices.
