Reps To Pose Insurance Antitrust Exemption Repeal

Law360, New York (February 05, 2010, 5:16 PM ET) -- Two Democrats are poised to introduce a bill in the U.S. House of Representatives that would repeal the federal antitrust exemption for medical malpractice and health insurers, moving forward on a component of the House's now-stalled health care overhaul.

Reps. Betsy Markey, D-Colo., and Tom Perriello, D-Va., plan to introduce a bill within a week that would create a more competitive health insurance market by ending the market's federal antitrust exemption, the two representatives said in a statement released Feb. 3.
