Italy Broadens Google AdSense Competition Probe

Law360, New York (March 12, 2010, 5:38 PM ET) -- Italy's competition watchdog has expanded its probe into whether Google Inc. has abused its dominant market position with the terms of the standard contract for its AdSense online advertising program to include the technology giant's Ireland unit.

The Autorita Garante della Concorrenza e del Mercato decided to broaden the investigation to Google Ireland Ltd. based on information showing that members of the AdSense network have contracts with that unit, the watchdog said Thursday.
