Rio Tinto Workers Get Jail Time For Accepting Bribes

Law360, New York (March 29, 2010, 2:25 PM ET) -- An Australian employee of mining giant Rio Tinto was reportedly sentenced Monday to 10 years in jail for receiving bribes and obtaining commercial secrets, while three of his Chinese colleagues have been sentenced to between seven and 14 years on similar charges.

The Shanghai No. 1 Immediate People's Court sentenced Stern Hu, an Australian citizen who headed Rio Tinto's Shanghai office, to seven years on the bribery charges and five years on the commercial secrets charges, but he will serve 10 years, according to the Associated...
