S. Africa Competition Watchdog Raids 4 Cable Makers

Law360, New York (May 06, 2010, 3:22 PM ET) -- South Africa's Competition Commission has launched a search and seizure operation at the offices of four electrical cables manufacturers amid suspicion the group engaged in price-fixing, market allocation and collusive tendering.

The raids come on the heels of a March 16 complaint in which the commission named Aberdare Cables (Pty) Ltd., Alvern Cables (Pty) Ltd., South Ocean Electric Wire Company (Pty) Ltd. and Tulisa Cables (Pty) Ltd. as possible antitrust law violators, the watchdog said Thursday.
