Italian Antitrust Regulator Probes Telecom Italia

Law360, New York (May 18, 2010, 6:38 PM ET) -- Italy's antitrust watchdog has launched an investigation into Telecom Italia SpA, following telecommunications company Fastweb SpA's complaint that Telecom Italia was trying to hinder the formulation of competitive bids for contracts with Enel SpA and state-owned Consip SpA.

The Autorita Garante della Concorrenza e del Mercato said Tuesday it would look into whether Telecom Italia had abused its dominant position.
