Halliburton Patent Suit Leads To Antitrust Action

Law360, New York (February 26, 2007, 12:00 AM ET) -- A patent infringement lawsuit filed by Halliburton Energy Services may have backfired on the oil construction company, as drill fluid supplier M-I LLC has struck back with an antitrust lawsuit based on evidence from the patent case.

M-I said it filed the antitrust suit on Feb. 16, accusing Halliburton of monopolizing the market for enhanced drilling fluids used in oil and gas drilling operations by misusing the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
