Ticket Buyers Lose Bid To Block UAL-Continental Deal

Law360, New York (September 28, 2010, 1:41 PM ET) -- A federal judge has declined to temporarily block the $3 billion merger between UAL Corp.'s United Air Lines Inc. and Continental Airlines Inc. pending the outcome of a suit filed by 49 individual ticket buyers who claim the deal would hurt industry competition.

The plaintiffs failed to "shoulder their burden to demonstrate irreparable harm" in order to win such a remedy, Judge Richard Seeborg ruled Monday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California after a two-day evidentiary hearing.
