Pharmacy Class Blasts CVS For Misusing Patient Info

Law360, New York (October 01, 2010, 1:20 PM ET) -- Retail pharmacies have unleashed a nationwide class action accusing CVS Caremark Corp. of misappropriating patient information and preventing customers from filling prescriptions at non-CVS pharmacies.

The complaint, filed Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas on behalf of some 40,000 pharmacies nationwide, alleges CVS uses its pharmacy benefit system to co-opt proprietary patient information received from retail pharmacies and steer consumers away from competitors.
