Pfizer's U.K. Drug Distribution Deal Draws Scutiny

Law360, New York (April 04, 2007, 12:00 AM ET) -- The United Kingdom’s competition regulator said Wednesday that it will launch a market study to investigate the effects of Pfizer Inc.’s decision to make London-based Alliance Boots plc the sole distributor of its products in the U.K.

The Office of Fair Trading said its market study into the distribution of medicines in the U.K. was prompted by Pfizer’s deal with Alliance Boots’ wholesaling subsidiary, UniChem. The OFT also said other drug suppliers are now considering similar deals in the U.K.
