Law360, New York (March 29, 2011, 2:54 PM ET) -- Federal prosecutors on Monday filed a superseding indictment in New York charging former state Sen. Pedro Espada Jr. and his son with bid-rigging and tax fraud, in addition to embezzlement of $600,000 from Espada’s nonprofit health care network.
While Espada and his son Pedro Gautier Espada already faced allegations they siphoned hundreds of thousands of dollars in federal grant money from Soundview Healthcare Network, a nonprofit Espada founded in 1978, the duo now must contend with claims that their misdeeds included wire and tax fraud....
