British Airways, LAN To Pay $156M To Exit Air Cargo MDL

Law360, New York (June 07, 2011, 1:02 PM ET) -- British Airways PLC agreed Tuesday to pay nearly $90 million to settle claims that it fixed cargo rates while LAN Airlines SA and two subsidiaries will pay $66 million to exit the same New York multidistrict litigation.

The British Airways deal, which also calls for the airline to help the direct purchaser plaintiffs in their case against the remaining defendants and to pay up to $500,000 in administrative noticing costs, is the largest settlement the plaintiffs have won so far in the five-year-old antitrust case, topping...
