Greece Fines Frito-Lay Unit €16M For Antitrust Violations

Law360, New York (February 08, 2012, 2:39 PM ET) -- Greece’s antitrust watchdog on Wednesday fined a unit of PepsiCo Inc.-owned Frito-Lay International €16.18 million ($21.45 million), saying it harmed competition in the snack food industry by engaging in unlawful tactics that excluded rivals from the market.

The Hellenic Competition Commission found Tasty Foods had policies in place, specifically in regard to the Lay’s brand of potato chips, that unfairly gave the snack food producer more shelf space in small stores and kiosks while excluding rival snack products.
