EU Issues Antitrust Guidelines For Shipping Cos.

Law360, New York (September 13, 2007, 12:00 AM ET) -- The European Commission has proposed new guidelines to help steer the shipping industry through its antitrust laws a year after the Commission lifted an exemption that allowed companies to form cartels.

The EC on Thursday said it would open the draft guidelines to public consultation before finalizing them next year. The rules encourage shipping companies to work together to maximize market transparency and monitor their rivals in the industry.
