Nucor Unit Faces $40M Antitrust Suit Over Unfair Pricing

Law360, New York (June 26, 2012, 10:30 PM ET) -- A supplier of structural steel products hit a Nucor Corp. affiliate with a $40 million lawsuit Friday in Texas federal court, alleging the steel manufacturing giant charged a preferred customer lower prices, giving it an unfair competitive edge.

J.D. Fields & Co. Inc. claims Nucor-Yamato Steel Co. routinely charged Skyline Steel LLC lower prices for steel products, causing Fields to miss out on government contracts when it was unable to make the most competitive bid. Nucor is the largest producer of steel in the U.S....
