EU Targets Auto Parts Makers In Price-Fixing Probe

Law360, New York (August 09, 2012, 1:59 PM ET) -- Europe’s competition officials on Thursday launched a probe into allegations that automakers conspired to fix prices of wire harnesses and related parts installed in cars, following the regulator’s announcement last month that it raided several auto parts facilities supplying auto air conditioning components.

The European Commission opened an investigation into possible collusion between producers of automotive electrical distribution systems — also referred to as wiring harnesses — as part of a wider effort to expose possible cartels in the automotive sector.
