Consultant Gets 7 Years For Katrina Home Grant Bribes

Law360, New York (August 23, 2012, 7:48 PM ET) -- A Louisiana federal judge on Wednesday sentenced a consultant to more than seven years in prison for his role in a bribery conspiracy involving a troubled state program for helping victims of hurricanes Katrina and Rita rebuild their homes at safely elevated levels.

U.S. District Judge Ivan L.R. Lemelle imposed the sentence on Rickey Davis, who was employed by construction companies to help them secure lucrative contracts with homeowners under the $750 million Hazard Mitigation Grant Program. He had pled guilty in May to bribing Wanda...
