New FTC Pick Likely To Resist Expansion Of Antitrust Powers

Law360, New York (September 11, 2012, 7:51 PM ET) -- Newly named Federal Trade Commission nominee Joshua Wright may not be able to weigh in on the agency's investigation of Google Inc. because of his earlier criticism of the probe, but the law and economics professor looks poised to make his presence felt by opposing any expansion of the agency's power to target companies for unfair competition, experts said Tuesday.

President Barack Obama tapped Wright, a professor at George Mason University School of Law, on Monday to replace outgoing Republican Commissioner J. Thomas Rosch.
