Law360, New York (September 27, 2012, 7:19 PM ET) -- The owner of an Orange, N.J., diagnostic testing center pled guilty Thursday to overseeing a sprawling cash-for-patients scheme that generated nearly $2 million in corrupt revenues for the business from Medicare and Medicaid billings.
Appearing before U.S. District Judge Claire C. Cecchi, Dr. Ashokkumar Babaria, 62, of Moorestown, N.J., copped to one count of violating the federal health care anti-kickback statute by paying doctors and other health care providers illegal cash kickbacks for referrals, according to U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman.
